The R4 iso that has BE15 is planned to be released 3rd of August. The HF to enable the upgrade will also be published to LiveUpdate on that day or just before.
The howto article for the upgrade will be when published be HOWTO111530
The HF that contains the package that will enable the R3 to R4 upgrade will be TECH230290.
...run LiveUpdate and see what it shows.
If it doesn't then log a call with Symantec directly and find out where the upgrade is. You should've been notified via LiveUpdate that an update was available, and you'd then somply follow the upgrade process.

BackupBjoern, do you know if the OS will be upgraded to Windows 2012 R2?
There are no OS upgrade. Only SCSP, Backup Exec and the OpsCenter code for the WebUI will be updated.

My appliance is running in a closed network - did not use LiveUpdate Admin.
HF for updates 2012->2014 downloaded as .exe file.

There will be a offline HF available for this. You will need to open a support case to obtain it.
I suggest to you to evaluate the use of LUA and not apply downloaded HF's on the appliance. This way you are only getting BE HF's and not appliance HF's as they are not separately downloadable.
