Enterprise Vault - Event 8390

Hi

I have EV 10.0.3 running on a Microsoft Cluster. Win 2008 R2.

Everything seems to be working, but during archiving the eventlog has a lot of 8390 error event, se below.

Does anyone know why this error is showing up?

Anders

  • That's quite likely to be the problem.

Try doing a 'run now' for one of these users, and, see if the events are logged.

  • Do you have shortcut processing turned on on your archiving task?

Is there any possibility for the mailboxes to have shortcuts in them from another EV system, or host?

  • Shortcut processing: Yes

Actually, we did run a EV pilot 2 years ago for only a few users. This pilot was ended, and we exported back all the items to the mailboxes. I have seen that in some of these mailboxes there are still some shortcuts from the old EV pilot.

  • I think this is the problem. I did a run now only with shortcut processing, and get one 8390 event for one of the old users.

Shortcut deletions are set to 3 years. Will these "old" shortcuts be deleted or will they be here forever?

Any other way to clean up this?

  • I *think* Shortcut Deletion only looks at the age of the shortcut, not which EV environment it belongs to. So they should eventually go away.

However, feel free to contact me privately, and we can discuss whether I can help you with a tool which will at least report on the mailboxes that have this, give you some more information (like number of items, subject of messages, and so on).
