service pack install

hey....i have a few questiosn relating to service packs???  are they cumulative?? or do i need to install 2007 sp2 through 5??  also, ive got Office 2003 SP3 installed on this EV server (SP1), and its working fine.  The Deployment Scanner recognized it is an unsupported version.  The only way to remove SP3 is to reinstall office altogether.....will this have any adverse effects on the current EV??  TIA!!
  • According to the latest Symantec Enterprise Vault Compatibility Charts, Outlook 2003 SP3 is supported with the following note:

An issue exists in Outlook 2003 SP3 and Outlook 2007 SP1, with items that have 2048 or more recipients in the

TO, CC or BCC fields, or have more than 2048 attachments. If you are likely to be affected by this issue, it is

addressed by a Microsoft hotfix for Outlook 2003 SP3. See
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948073. The

    recommended registry value is 0xFFFFFFFF.

  • Hi there

    They are cumulative.

SP3 is supported in the latest version.

  • thanks for your help!  so Office 2003 SP3 is supported in EV 2007 SP5??  The deployment scanner from that SP wasnt pleased.  Should I just proceed with SP5 install??

  • Btw... there is no SP5 yet... SP4, I think.

Office 2003 sp3 is okay for clients, but isn't supported on EV servers AFAIK.  That is why you get the warning in the deployment scanner.  Yes the only way to fix it is to uninstall office altogether and then reinstall.

  • Yes, this is specifically to fix this error.
If you read the hotfix notes, you see that there is an issue with outlook opening .MSG files, and EV does that a whole lot using Outlook... ;)
