Robotic library problem

While trying to configure NBU 6.5.6 from scratch(I know it is eol)on Win 2008 R2, it seems I can't configure it correctly.

The architecture is as follows:

HP server installed with Win 2008 R2 connected with FC to StorageTec SL 500.

2 HP LTO 4 drives are in the robot connected to NetApp filer with FC.

I'm using NDMP only for backup policies.

After a crash in the system I'm installing everything from scratch.

When adding the robot as storage device it's detected with Bus 0 Lun 0 and target 0

And when trying to import media the job hangs with the foloowing:

I than cancell the job, is the robot not configuer properly?

  • its not showing anything wrong,

    Do this,

    delete your Robot and Drives

    Restart Netbackup

configure it again from GUi->Device configuration wizard.

    and see how it works.

  • hi,

what is the out put of Below commands from the Master server/ I am assuming the master server is the control host for the NDMP Drives.

    set_ndmp_attr -verify [ndmp-server-host]

    set_ndmp_attr -probe [ndmp-server-host]

    tpconfig -d

    tpautoconf -t

    vmoprcmd -d

  • Thanks for your help!

Master server controls the robotic library, the 2 tapes are connected directly to the NetApp filer with FC.

    Win 2008 R2 supports v. 6.5.6. it's installed as a patch after orignal installation of 6.5.

I print out all coomand in a the attached txt file, I think it's a path to the robot that is missing you can see it in the tpconfig -d output.

  •

    Currently defined robotics are:
      TLD(0) SCSI coordinates = MISSING_PATH:559000203533

    you have robot missing..

check the robot connectivity in OS level is fine or not.

and also check from scan command if you are able to see the Robot or not.

  • I checked and I do have it configuerd but not properly I guss.

I have been working with Win server 2008 R2 and NBU 6.5.6 for more than 3 years!
