Vmware Instant Recovery

I am trying to test the whole instant recovery feature, but am not able to get it to work properly.  I am running, 7.6.0.1 and 2.6.0.1 on my appliance.  I have an AIX master and am initiating the restore from a Windows Media Server running 7.6.0.1.

I guess one of my issues is that I do not understand what is needed to specify a different recovery host.

I thought it meant to specify -vmproxy as my windows media server, but that didnt help either.

    The restore host (NetBackup client) must be on Windows. The backup host that made the backup can be Windows or Linux.

    are you still having this issue..

    if yes, could you let us know what all the steps that you followed ?

    does NFS client services are running on ESXi host?

    does NFS is installed on windows recovery host?

    Hello,

    I've the same problem.

    I am running, 7.6.0.1 and 2.6.0.1 on my appliance.  I have an Windows Master and Media Server running 7.6.0.1. I tried to restore a windows 2012 VM-Server with instant recovery. The command was:

    nbrestorevm -vmw -ir_activate -C "windows2012Server" -temp_location "datastorename" -vmpo

    The restore starts and ends with the error:

    Failed to mount a backup image on the server "ESX-Host".

     

    What do I wrong?

    so did you check 

    does NFS client services are running on ESXi host?

    does NFS is installed on windows recovery host?

    Hey guys, I wanted to get back on this as I fell off after the post.  It was a time of extreme need and I soon realized I was not going to have what I needed at the specific time.  While I never got things set up and working, I realized I was missing the key components needed, most specifically the NFS stuff.  While I did have a windows recovery host, I had not yet had the NFS stuff in place to take advantage of instant recovery.  While I still do not, I learned there was a bit more to things than just executing a one liner...
