VMware policy restore error(2820)

I have tried restoring to different servers with NetBackup client already installed and still same error.

Any suggention is appreciated.

Thank you.

  • After taking following two steps issue was resolved:

-Restarting the NetBackup process on the Linux client.

    -Entering the FQDN for destination.

  • What version NetBackup? What logs have you looked at with logging turned up? See the NetBackup admin guide for VMware for troubleshooting guidance.

  • It seems you are trying to restore a bit more than a file?

Please give us more info about the environment - you have selected (no longer supported) 7.6 as NBU version. Is that correct?

What is the OS of the VM that was backed up?
And to which OS and NBU version are you trying to restore to?

Can you show us us screenshots of the entire restore attempt - starting with initial selection in BAR GUI?

Do you have bprd log folder on the master server?
It seems that the restore attempt is not progressing past bprd, so, we need to start here with troubleshooting.
Depending on what we see in this log, more logs will be needed. But let us start here.

If bprd does not exist under ...\netbackup\logs on the master server, please create the folder and restart NBU.
Retry the restore (please take screenshots of each step).

After the failure, please post screenshots and bprd log (please copy the log file to bprd.txt and then upload).
