0xe00084af during Windows Server 2003 SP1 Standard Edition backup

Media Server: Windows 2000 Server StandEdition, Backup Exec 10 rev.5484 SP4 + Hot Fix 36.
Remote server: Windows Server 2003 SP1 standard edition, BE Remote Agent for Windows Server.

I can backup Shadow Copy Components - System State (backup job history: Agent used: Yes, Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

But all attempts to backup C, D drives failed with 0xe00084af error - The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed.
Resource Credentials test - Successful.

NTbackup works perfectly backing up a remote Win2k3 server, why BE is so capricious?

Never have had problems with BE win2k server backup.

Additional information.

I was able to backup a remote Win2k3 server's drives with the BE Remote Agent disabled and using User-defined Selections \\server\share.

Hi Shilpa,

Thanks for your reply, but AOFO is not installed on our BE server.

Do you have the remote agent installed on a 64 bits machine?
Could you post the entire error message that you see in the job log.
Does the backup job fail on one of the files or folders. To check that go to the job log and see in "Backup Set Detail" Information box.

NOTE: If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked assumed answered and would be moved to answered questions pool.

Finally I have found a solution.

Upgrade from BE 10 rev.5484 to BE 10d rev.5629 + SP1 + HFs did the trick.

I guess it was BE 10 and Win 2K3 R2 compatibility issue.
