An unknown or unexpected database error occurred while attempting a DBCC.

Five of my last six full backups have failed with this error. We have run a DBCC through SQL 2000 and came up with no errors. We haven't made any changes to our Backup Exec 10d installation in several months, and up until three weeks ago we had no problems with this.

Since we had a successful DBCC earlier this evening, I assume that the problem lies within Backup Exec. Please advise me on proceeding.

Hi,

Refer the following TechNote.
http://support.veritas.com/docs/242004

Try running the DBCC within Backup Exec without including the indexes.

If after the DBCC through SQL there are no errors you may perform a backup through Backup Exec and set up the job to perform the DBCC both before and after the backup.

Try running the Backup Job again with SGMON running in the background.
For how to create SGMON.LOG please refer the following technote
http://www.seer.support.veritas.com/docs/190979.htm
Note: Start sgmon before starting the Backup Exec/backup/restore operation
