BESR vs. BE 2010 for Hyper-V

zorro
Level 3

What would be the best backup solution for two hyper-v servers running about 10 Vm's on each physical host using external iscsi storage?  I tried BESR because they have the virtual edition with unlimited agents.  However, after installing the agents on a couple VM's, I found out that I can only connect to one VM at a time and I would have to create 20 backup jobs (1 for each VM).

Now I'm wondering if BE 2010 would be the better choice.  Will it allow me to backup each VM as an image or the VHD file?  Will I also be able to backup the two hyper-v servers?  What software and agents do I need?  What PC should I install BE on?  Can it be installed on a VM?

Hello

BE2010 will allow you to take a backup of the image as well as the backup of the VHD file.

You will require Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure for VMware and Agent for Hyper-V for Hyper V servers.

Except Win 2000 server BE 2010 is compatible with all the other Win OS.  You can also install BE 2010 on a VM
