Using 11d to backup to disk on a Terrastation II which is also pluged into the lan on a gig port.

The throughput is a low 200MB/min

Any idea whay it's sooooo slow?

Taking 10 hours to backup 89gig compared to 4 hours onto tape

I don't necessarily have the answer however our experience with this device was the same.  It was an iSCSI device and when we tried to do mass data backups to it, the disks and/or controller couldn't keep up often causing the unit to slow down and at times freeze.  When calling Bufallo, they stated that the device wasn't meant to handle that much constant data.  Go figure.  We now use it as a plain jane file storage system.

When v11d first came out there were several threads concering problems with these devices.   I don't think there was ever any definitive answer.

The fact that you can write data to one at all places you way ahead of most folks
