Backing up Hyper-V Cluster

Hi,

I am attempting to backup my hyper-v clusters which are on my blade servers.

When I attempt to do a mailbox item restore from my virtual exchange server it does not show me the correct option. It only allows me to do a file level restore or a complete virtual machine restore.

Please advise.

1) Did you buy one Agent for Applications and Databases licence for each Exchange in your cluster and enabled the licences?

2) Did you enable GRT for Exchange during the VM backup?

3) Did you install the remote agent in each machine in the cluster?

4) Is the Exchange in a DAG?  If so, then you have to backup the active node if you want to have GRT restore of Exchange items.  Backing up the VM's will not give you GRT restore of Exchange items.

Thank you for your response.

So when I backup the entire cluster which has a mixture of different VM's such as exchange, dome, DB etc..

I select all the GRT options.

The agents have been installed on all the VM's including the hosts. I will need to double check if the exchange is in a DAG.

So do you advise that I back up all the nodes rather than the cluster?
