Backup Exec 10d - order of tape/slot usage

Morning all,

We are running BE 10d (Version 10.1 Rev 5629) on a Windows Server 2003 using a Dell Powervault 124T LTO-3 tape autoloader.  The 124T is not partitioned in any way.  We run full backups (4 separate jobs) on a Friday night using 3 tapes.  My question is the order in which the backup seems to use the tapes.  It would appear that no matter how I set it up, it always takes the tape from slot 2 before slot 1.  While this has not been a major issue, we are now looking to partition the drives and separate slot 1 from the others.  However, before I go through with this, I wanted to try and sort this order issue out to ensure that the partitioning will not create bigger problems down the line.

Has anyone else noted this and is there a way to force the order in which it selects the tape/slot?

Grateful for any input at all - I am fairly new to BE :-).

Simon

If you have not partitioned the loader, BackupExec will grab the tape that has been in scratch or overwrite status longest - the "oldest" tape - that it can see
