Dear All,

Thanks all for attention.

I have some question about Backup Exec 2010R2 to R3 in wins 2003(32bit)

Please help & give me some advise.

My enviroment: OS: Wins 2003   - 4 Server in Media Server  (1 Central Admin, 3 Managed media server)

First stupid question, How to backup BEDB? I am affraid that any errors when upgrade from R2 to R3.

Sec, I need to upgrade R2 to R3 of all the server at same time?

Also should upgrade all the remote agent to the most update one?

Thr, Should I backup BEDB one by one? or only in Central admin server?

Finally,Can provide any website about the difference between R2 & R3?

I try to search , however seem cannot find the offical web site about this.

Thanks so much for your attention.

Everyday Backup Exec runs a database maintenance and creates a backup of the BE database in

the form of BEDB.bak, this file is located at X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data\

So before upgrading you can copy/backup the DATA folder. Also make a copy/backup CATALOGS

folder. In a CASO-MMS environment, BEDB is located on the CASO server.

First you need to stop communication between CASO & MMS server, upgrade CASO and then

upgrade MMS. Also upgrade all the remote agents. Its recommended to keep CASO, MMS and

remote agnets at the same version.

R2 to R3 is a version upgrade. Read the below article for fixed issues and new features of R3

http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC4044

EDIT: Refer to below link which explains how to upgrade a CASO
