I am getting the following on one of my backups to a local USB drive intermittently.  I can go a whole week and not see it and then it reoccurs.  Any ideas?  Window Server 2008 R2 Standard SPI 1.  Backup Exec server is running locally and backing up the local server.

Hi,

Open a command prompt and type: vssadmin list writers --> do this on the server giving you this issue.

You should see some of the writers are not running and a server restart should fix this.

Thanks for the reply.  I see all of the writers as stable but I dont see any related to Backup Exec.  I havent restarted yet.  Also I see the article you sent is related to Microsoft Exchange and we dont have that.   What providers and writers are needed to backup server state with Backup Exec 2012?  Thanks.
