Backup Exec 9.1 SP4a installation failure.

I am trying to install SP4a for Backup Exec 9.1 on a SBS 2003. I get "There is no bkupexec instance name specified for sql server", and the installation fails. I found an article (http://support.veritas.com/docs/258602) about that error and did what is said and that also failed. I got an error that said "the instance name specified is invalid".

This is step number four of Schweta's earlier post.
Are you suggesting that maybe if he does the same thing over and over again, perhaps eventually it will just work?

This was already tried. I pasted the log a couple of posts ago.

Run the following commands from a command prompt:

1. msiexec /unregister

2. msiexec /regserver

If this fails to resolve the issue, try performing the following procedure to reinstall the installer service:

1. Unregister Windows Installer: msiexec /unregister

2. Rename the following files from the command prompt:Msi.dll, Msiexec.exe, and Msihnd.dll
(Change the names to msi.dll.bak, msiexec.exe.bak and msind.dll.bak respectively)

3. Restart Windows

4. Install the Windows Installer service again (InstMSI.exe) from the Backup Exec Software CD (PATH= Build\Winnt\Install\BE\InstMSI.exe)
OR download from the Microsoft Web site ( http://www.microsoft.com )


The Installation Wizard should open successfully after the installation is complete.
