Backup Exec on HP StorageWorks DAT72

Currently have a HP StorageWorks DAT72 Installed on a HP Proliant ML350 Running Windows Small Business Server 2003. Using Symantec Backup Exec 10d small business suite. I have installed the latest service pack and hot fixes for both Backup Exec and Windows as well as latest drivers and firmware for the tape drive.

The Problem that I am having is that BE does not have the option to select DAT72 or DDS5 as a media type. This results in Backup exec not displaying the correct tape capacity or using the correct compression. This is not an issue with the tape drive or the media as ntbackup reports the correct information. I am unable to backup any data past the native 73 GB capacity of the tape in BE but have no problems when using ntbackup.

How can I get BE to recognize that I am using DDS5/DAT72 tapes.

Cheers,

Adam

Are you using the manufacturere drivers or Symantec drivers?

Have you tried the latest v10 driverpack?

Hi Ken,

I am using the symantec drivers but have tried the manufacturer's also. Thanks for the link to the updates. I have downloaded and installed but veritas still only provides media types up to DDS4 and not 5 or the option for DAT72.

Thanks

Adam
