Backup running longer after installing Symantec Anit-virus

Running BE 10.0.5520 SP2 on 2003 server. Just upgraded to Symantec AV 10.1.
Have the job stopping the Symantec AV service before back and restarting after. backup job time has increased 4 hours since installing AV software. Any one have ideas for bring the backup time back down?

Thank you for the suggestion. How ever, this is a data server not, not and email server. Any other ideas?

Hi,

Please try one more backup without Symantec Anit-virus and check whther it again takes 8hours !

Also exclude Veritas Folder from Symantec Anit-virus Scan

Found the fix.

In the Symantec Colsole
Under the client auto-protect options, in the Advanced button, we changed the startup to "Symantec Antivirus Start", and made sure "open for backup" was unchecked. I also locked each of those, so they can not be changed on a server individually.
