Jor

Hello,

I have a serious problem with virtual machine Backup on HYPER-V. All my jobs (10 VM) fails with error : V-79-57344-65078

I have checked and try all solution proposed by this page : http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=answers&startover=y&question_box=V-79-57344-6507...  but nothing works. In my Windows event viewer i can see error ID : 57484

"Error the request of the extended attributes (AE) of the following file : My VHD file"

I have another HYPER-V server withtout any problem (same configuration)...

Infrastructure :

  • Backup Exec : R3 without SP1
  • Hyper-V host : Windows 2008 R2 64bits
  • Hyper-V VM: Windows 2008 R2 64 bits

I have checked :

  • Administrator account  OK : Backup fail
  • VHD File OK : Backup fail
  • Enable Shadow Storage Copy on different disk  OK : Backup fail
  • Reschedule Backup VM OK : Backup fail
  • Start one job a the same time OK : Backup fail
  • Check / Uncheck : AOFO OK : Backup fail
  • "Vss admin list writers : All is OK"

Can you help me about that ?

Thanks a lot !

...then you will need downtime. Altrnatively, if you don't get help here, and if you have a support contract in place with Symantec, then you can open a call with them.

Check that your disk is supported.  See the Hyper-V Storage Configuration Compatibility section on page 7 of the SCL.

Hi,

Have you run: vssadmin list writers from a command prompt to make sure your VSS writers are stable and running?

If they aren't a reboot of the server normally sorts this out.

Otherwise try removing the VHD and readding it.

Thanks!

There is no way to resolve this issue without rebooting the Hyper-V server ??

...not sure. It's normally a recommendation if you are experiencing VSS errors. Otherwise wait to see what you get in terms or responses on your query...
