Backup with distributed file system

BackupExec 11D Administration Server installed with AOFO is trying to save a folder via remote Agent. This folder is a distributed files system. When trying to backup files it just saves the hidden system folder created by the DFS. even trying to stop the synchronisation of the DFS while backing up dosen't help. Job log tells that AOFO used VPS to save this folder.

Anyone got a solution for this???

thanks to everyone

Mike,

To correctly backup DFS data there are two ways to do so.

1. Select the DFS data in shadow copy. (This is the prefered way)

or

2. Stop the DFS services on the remote server and back up the data through the folder level.

Ben,

If I try to backup using DFS under shadow copy my agent fails...

Faulting application beremote.exe, version 11.0.7170.11, faulting module bedsshadow.dll, version 11.0.7170.0, fault address 0x0006bafd.

Garen,

That is actually a known issue that we are working on.  Please refer to that technote for more details and the work arounds for it.  http://support.veritas.com/docs/288171

This technote: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288171.htm mentions reverting back to build 6235. However, I can only download build 7170 from https://fileconnect.symantec.com. How does one download a previous build?

Well I opened a ticket with support, but it appears that the files for build 6235 are no longer available.

:(

The tech I spoke with said he will search their private network for copies of these files. Any chance someone else from Symantec could make build 6235 available again? Especially since those files are mentioned specifically in fixing a problem with the 7170 remote agent?
