I'm an end user using Backup Exec CPS I need to backup 500 gig from one location to my remote server . I have started using the Internet but it is slow and i only have 30 gig backed up . What is my best way to get the data over to the remote? Can I use an external drive to back up the data and then copy it to the remote location server ? If i can use an external drive is the data backed up seen as availible files like they are at the primary server or is one flat file ? I'm new to this product and thanks for any feed back .

I can't even imagine trying to move that much data over the internet on a routine basis

The easiest way would probably be to create a B2D device on a removeable drive (eSata rather than USB just for the speed differential) and physically transport it to the remote site

attach/mount to a drive letter with a B2D device defined, pause/unpause the device, inventory the BKF files, then catalog them and you should be able to restore at the remote site
