Bexec 10.0 imtermitently reject tape sets

Wade_Starr

Upgraded from 9.1 to 10.0.

We have a 6 week tape rotation. A full that runs once a week, and differentials that run every night except when the full runs. The Full is set to overwrite, the differential is set to append.

On an intermittent basis, the backup jobs reject the tape set. You get the "Insert Overwritable Media" alert, but when the tape is inserted in gets ejected. To work around this, I've had to start new tape sets for those times when the orginal tape set gets rejected.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

From the technote given below please verify if your device is tested.

If your device is tested then install the latest Veritas drivers from the link given below.

If it is compatible then install the OEM drivers.

Update the firmware
Update SCSI drivers.

--> Update firmware of the tape drive.

--> Disable Removable Storage service before starting the backup.

--> Try erasing the tape.
