CALs for Linux

HI All,

Sorry for this newb question, I have looked all over and I am going round in circles so I thought it'd be easier to ask.

We have purchased a copy of Backup9.1 for windows servers. As I understand it you need to purchase CALs for the abilty to backup remote servers.

I.E.
VERITAS Backup ExecTM 9.1 for Windows Servers Remote Agent for Windows Servers (CAL) 3-pack

OR

VERITAS Backup ExecTM 9.1 for Windows Servers Remote Agent for NetWare Servers (CAL) 3-pack

From what I can see there are CAL packs for windows and for netware, but I can't see which one I would have to use for Linux / Solaris? Is it the windows one? Is it free?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Regards,
Mike

So, just in short. Do I have to pay to back-up my Unix and Linux servers?

Hi,

In backup Exec 9.1, backin up Linux is not a paid option. But you need to install the remote agent on the linux machine. Please refer to the software compatibility list to check whether the version of Linux that you are using is supported:

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 for Windows Servers - Software Compatibility List (SCL)

http://support.veritas.com/docs/261695

you would need to install the agent on the linux machine which can be downloaded from the following URL:

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) UNIX Agent 5.0 revision 5.046
http://support.veritas.com/docs/262592

Hope it helps!
