Can't select SQL database for backup

Hi,

I'm unable to select a SQL database (Act) for backup. When try to select it I get the error......

"Failed to access Microsoft SQL Server "ACT7"

Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly."

I assume that I need to give full access to the active directory account the backup is running under? Can anyone expain how this is done? I'm running SBS 2003 and don't have any SQL management tools installed.

TIA,
Al

Hi Alun,

Are you able to backup the master SQl database?  If you are able then you have proper rights to SQL.
You will need to contact ACT in order to obtain a option package so you can modify there special security.

Hi,

Thanks I will speak to Act.

BTW - I can't expand the 'Act' database (and view the folders underneath). I can do this for other SQL databases such as BKUPEXEC and SBSMONITORING. I don't know if this is of any significance.
