I have a SBS2003 server running SQL 2000.
Today we are using NTbackup to make backups, but we are looking into adopt the Backup Exec program.

This is the issue i get.
When its installing i get this error afther a while:
The backup exec database version you are trying to use does not match the version of this install. Schema changes have been performed on this database which do not match the executables currently being installed. Install will not be able to continue at this time. Please visit the Symantec support Web site for more information.

This is the chooses i did in the installation wizard:
  • Meny:
    • Local Insall
      • Install backup exec software and options
    • Enviroment check - everything green
  • License Keys
    • None, clicked next (trial)
  • Local options. (The following choosen for install)
    • Tape Device Driver
    • Online documentation
    • Enable robotic library support
    • Advanced open file option
    • Agent for microsoft sql server
    • Installing to C:\program files\symantec\verital backup exec
  • Credentials.
    • Username - domain admin
    • Password - password for the domain admin
    • domain - our domain
  • Setting:
    • Use and existing SQL server 2000
      • The name of the server, in this case SERVER03

Never had backup exec installed prior to this, but ive had some trouble installing it here.

Backup Exec requires SQL Express 2005 to install to.  May want to check enterprise manager in 2000 and see if there is a BEDB listed. If so detach and delete.  If there is not a BEDB database there then you SQL 2000 service pack is not correct for Backup Exec 11d.  You better off letting it intstall the SQL Express 2005 instance.

Thanks for youre reply Steve.

We have no BEDB listed in the SQL. What service pack is correct for backup exec 11d?
