Trying to read data from back-up Tapes created on a Dell server that was stolen, new server and tape drive the same but keep getting "Physical Volume Library Drive Not Found" when trying to create a catalog so the tapes can be read. Anyone ever have an issue like this and how can I fix it??(Using Symantec Backup Exec 11d for Windows Server, Small Business Suite Version 11.0 Rev. 7170) (Drive is a Segate STT3401A/ Dell PowerVault 100T, TR40, 20/40 GB Internal Tape Drive)

do you inventory the tape before trying to catalog it?

If so, try shutting down all BackupExec services, then rename the ..\Catalogs dir (to \catalogs.sav for example)

then Inventory and Catalog again

(Remember to rename \catalogs.sav back to \catalogs )

Thanks Ken will try that, Tried to inventory first but it shows the tape is blank. We know the back up was working and data is on tape but since it was created on another server (The stolen one) There is no information stored already for the tape on the new servers hard drive so it shows up as blank.

If the inventory can't even read the Header, then you will not be able to catalog it

Almost sounds like the old tape drive and the new one are not compatible, or that they use different HW compression (if HW compression was used to create the tape)
