Catalog....

   I'm trying to catalog a tape in order to do a restore. However, the job status keeps changing to "communication stalled" after about 30 minutes of running the catalog job. The backup exec. engine service stops.

 Anyone have any ideas??

Does it make any difference if you deselect "Use Storage media-based catalogs?

No, I already tried that.

Have you tried cataloging the tape on another drive?  Do you have another tape you can try on the original drive?

I have tried another tape, and it worked fine. I haven't however tried a different drive. I'll give that a shot.

Well, this is the error I get when I try it on a different drive.

"Invalid physical volume library robot identifier."
