Compression Ratio

Hello all:

It seems as though the compression on our tapes is not as effective as it used to be. Maybe two months or so ago I began to notice that we could get only a 1:1 backup on our AIT Turbo tapes. Before we used to fit at least 130GB on one tape now we are lucky to hit 105.

Does anyone have any idea why this would start to happen? Should I unintstall the product and reinstall in case it was an update which made this happen?

Are you starting to get more and more errors on your tapes?

How old are the tapes?

No not really. The tapes are about two years old. However, we still had some unused ones still wrapped and unpackaged. I tried one of these and still had the same issue.

Have you tried running a pass or two of the mfg diagnostics?

if new tapes are doing the same thing, could be the drive going bad.
