I'm having issues with Veritas / IBM DLT1 VS80 tape drive. I'm backing up about 45 GB and it's taking 15 hours to complete including the verify.
I've made sure my firmware is upto date on the drive and installed Service pack 4a for Veritas 9.1. This is a windows 2000 Box.
I'm looking for the device driver from veritas for this Tape drive. Also, any advice to help speed this up.
I monitored it for about an hour when it kicked off and even 1 GB of data is taking 11 minutes and it seems to slowy take longer per GB. At 40 minutes there were only 3GB of data backed up. This doens't seem right to me.
Thanks in advance..

Buffer Size (per Device) = 64k
Buffer Count = 10
High Water Count = 0
Read Single Clock (Unchecked)
Write Single Block (Checked)
Read SCSI Passthrough Mode (unchecked)
Write SCSI PAssthrough Mode (checked)

Write Single Block (Checked)
is probably what is causing this. It comletely bypasses any buffering. Read a block from disk, write a block to tape, read a block from disk ....
if the drive is directly connected you should also deselect both passthru options. This relates to how BackupExec handles error reporting from the device
