Deploy agent with BE12.5 on Exchange 2007

dave_r_fowler
Level 3

When I try to deploy the client through tools > deploy agent it fails and this is the error I pull from the install log.  If I go to the Exchange server and install the agent by browseing to the installation files over a share it installs.  I'd like to be able to deploy agents through the BE console.  Any suggestions on how I can fix this or where I should look to obtain more information to be able to troubleshoot?

Thanks,
David

I suspect there might be another message earlier in the log that will give more of a clue - 1603 is kind of a generic end result rather than a cause

I tried to paste the whole log, but its huge.  There is that one line in orange...

something I should be looking for in particular?

Hello,

Push install the remote agent only, please uncheck Advance Open File Option while pushing the remote agent.

Hey David, have you had any luck with the deployment?

dave_r_fowler
Level 3
I haven't.  When I try to push the agent it always fails whether or not I have Advanced Open File Option selected.

I've resorted to navigating from the target machine back to the BE machine and installing the agent either through the /%symantec install path%/version/setup.exe or by using the browser.exe off the installation media.  In both of those options I select to enable AOFO and it installs without error.

I wanted to push the agents or atleast control who has the agents from some kind of central point.

Thanks for asking,
David

In terms of the on-screen status, instead of the install log - were you getting the same thing discussed in this
http://support.veritas.com/docs/329721

a
nd now fixed by a Hotfix?

I don't think so.  Those errors described are not the error I posted.

The product is fully patched through live update.

Hi David,

Navigate to c:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWSX64\Updates on the Media server.  Can you provide a list of the windows installer files that are in this folder?
