I just purchased a new Sony AIT-5 tape drive but backup exec doesnt see it. It appears the server sees it correctly. Since its a new tech drive does backup exec not support it? I have the latest version of backup exec. If this is the case does anyone know when a new driver set that supports this drive will be released?
 
Also if I were to switch to the windows version of backup exec would that support the drive? Also if I did this could I use all of my current remote agents or would I have to buy all new?
 
If I have to buy all new agents I will probably switch products to something other than backup exec.

Here is more info.
 
The drive is an AITe1040S model SDX-D1100.
 
Its running on a netware 6.5 sp6 server and BE is:
 

 Backup Exec for NetWare 9.2  Build 1401.3          

                                                       

           Media Server = 1401.3                    

            Ndmp Server = 1401.3                    

             Nlm Client = 1401.3                    

            Java Client = 1401.3                  

                Drivers = 0011N023                 

                                                        

       Windows 9X agent = 5.030                    

         MAC OS X agent = 5.045                  

             UNIX agent = 5.046                    

                                                        

          OFO NW option = 9.5.501                     

     RAWS/OFO NT option = 5629R

Does the drive appear on the HCL?

I THINK it is listed. There is a sony SDX-1100 AITe1040 (AIT-5). Mine is model SDX-D1100 AITe1040S (AIT-5).
 
I think its because its an external version.
 
Any ideas why BE isnt seeing it?

Does it have the same enquiry string as the SDX-1100? If not, that could be the problem.

Oh well, I guess I will have to get rid of BE and go with a different vendor. Maybe CA will support their arcserve product better.
