Exchange backup and master exchange server

I have 4 exchange servers. I have moved the Backup Exec mail account from the main exchange server to one of the other servers. The mailboxes and public folders have started to fail since that time, I believe, because of authentication.

Does the backup exec mail account need to be on the main exchange server?
