Exchange mailbox recovery...please help.

Just taken over here and run into a problem with W2K/Exchange 2K and Veritas Backup Exec 8.6.

A change was made by our corp. IT guys to Groupshield, unfortunatley the change allowed Groupshield to remove EVERY attachment from ALL email on the server. I have since altered these settings but the damage was done.

So I have a fully operational exchange server, a compete backup of the mailboxes/etc but due to my limited experience with BE I find myself a little out of my depth. Can I just restore the mailboxes over the top of the current mailboxes?

My plan was
- to get the users to archieve (pst).
- Restore the mail boxes.
- then using simple drag and drop users can move new items back to the server.

Any advice help GREATLY appreciated.

DO NOT do a mailbox restore in a situation like this. What you want to do is a full stores restore This basically counts as disaster recovery. See the admin guide for specific step if you can't find your copy, get one here

Your idea of having everyone archive anything new since the screwup to a PST is a good one.
