Extracting stats with Crystal Reports on remote server

We are trying to use Crystal Reports to extract backup statistics from the database directly. We were successful on a local server but do not know how to do the same thing on a remote server.

Can anybody help? Thanks.

Hello,
If you mean the reports contained in backup exec these can only be run on the Bcakup Exec server. If you have issues with any particular report or wish to run a report for a specific purpose please write to us.

Additional Information :
For information on the recent VERITAS Backup Exec security vulnerabilities, including links to the downloads for the necessary hotfixes, please refer to the following document:

We are actually thinking about creating our own report files using Crystal Reports and then running it directly on the database instead of running the report through Backup Exec.

We have tried it by saving a custom report file with the others (built-in reports) in the same folder but we could not see it in Backup Exec for some reason.

So we were bypassing Backup Exec altogether and accessing the database itself.

Could anyone show us how to access the database on a remote server? Or maybe how to use a custom report file in Backup Exec.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for elaborating your query.

As you want to create your own report file using crystal reports and then running it directly on the database i.e on the remote server, please note that it is not possible.
You can not modify the crystal reports.
