One of my backup jobs started failing last week with the above error.  I have not done anything to any of my existing backup jobs.  

 

I found this article https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH162596

but I don't even see the folders mentioned in there.  The server is pretty much updated execept for 3 optional updates. I have rebooted this server  2 or 3 times, with the same effect.

Can you attach a job log? Also check the event logs on that system for any errors (besides the Backup Exec job failures). It's possible you may not have the errors reported as the Technote showed, but you can still have another VSS component running.

I rebooted the target server late last night and I was able to get a good backup of it.  Not sure what was wrong with the target server.
