Fujitsu Eternus DX410 snapshots and Backup Exec

Hi,

We have a customer with Windows and Linux blades connected to a Fujitsu Eternus DX410 SAN.  Some are boot-from-SAN, some just have data drives on the SAN.

The customer is intending to purchase Backup Exec and I was wondering if there was any way that Backup Exec could backup Snapshots created by the SAN itself rather than simply using the traditional Remote Agent approach of backing up the servers directly.

Is this possible?  It isn't clear which agent/option if any is designed to do this.

Thanks

Mark

What You actualy Intend to do is Not directly avaialable.

Backing Up the snapshot present in the SAN is Not possible,

But here is what Is possible for a SAN based environment...

Advanced Disk based Option -> offhost backup

If You have a setup\

where Your Media server and application servers connected to SAN and the Tape library to SAN

you may have the backup go from SAN to tape Library.

Arul

I don't see a "DX410," listed in the HCL for BackupExec 2010.  I'd question if it's even supported?  (Note, supported doesn't mean it wont work!  People seem to forget that)
