GRT Exchange 2007 stops after removing Exchange 2003 System Manager

Last Monday we've removed the Exchange System Manager (for Exchange 2003) from our backup media server. The reason we've done this is because we do not use Exchange 2003 any more.

since that time, the GRT backup of our Exchange 2007 server reports the following error:

Before last Monday, when we still had the Exchange System Manager installed, GRT backups went fine. Any ideas on how to correct this error?

Hello jeff,
To resolve the above error, you can try installing Exchange 2007 Management Tools on the media server.
And let me know if it helped you.

Thanks

Dear be12,

thank you for your response. Exchange 2007 Management Tools were already installed. Here's what happened:

- When we only had an Exchange 2003 server, backup including restore of individual messages went well. On our backup media server, we had the Exchange 2003 System Manager installed.
- We installed an Exchange 2007 server. We installed the Exchange 2007 Management Tools on the same backup media server. Backup including restore of individual messages for both the Exchange 2003 adn the Exchange 2007 went well.
- After migrating to the Exchange 2007 server, backup of the Exchange 2007 still worked.
- Now, in order to clean up, we've removed the Exchange 2003 System Manager from the backup media server, since we no longer make backups of the Exchange 2003 server.
- Backup of our Exchange 2007 server still works, however, we can't restore individual messages any more. The error mentioned in the first post is displayed after every backup.

Can you help us on this one?

Hi, we fight with the same problem -> no GRA Backups with only 2007 Management on the BE Server, Information Store Backup is possible, but no restore of single Objects, tried to update to BE12, same problem here.
There must be a problem with the lack of 2003 Compatibility in Ex2007. Hope symantec finds an answer soon, already spend too much time in this...
