HP 1/8 Autoloader not releasing tape after job cancelled

We have a HP autoloader 1/8 with Ultrium 960 drive connected to a W2k3 server with BE10d.

If we run a job that we then cancel the tape stays in the drive and does not return to a slot. The only way to clear the drive for the next job is to stop the BE services.
Latest HP autoloader driver installed then Symantec BE latest driver pack installed.

Anyone any ideas as to what is wrong?

Hello David,

- Do you mean the physical tape remains in the drive after the cancelation of the job?
Or is it just that BE shows the drive to be full?

- Do you get any active alerts to confirm the ejection of the tape.

What firmware is your autoloader at? We had a LOAD of issues with our Backupexec JobEngine Service failing us periodically in the past until we upgraded the Firmware of our tape library. Our environment is the same as yours (Autoloader 1/8 960).

Latest firmware available is 1.50 / 54W
