Help!! Crashed File Server! How do I restore from .bkf files without Backup Exec?

WisePlace is a non-profit Women's Shelter in Santa Ana CA.

Our Dell file server crashed. 2 drives is a raid 5 failed!!
We were backing up to USB drive with Backup Exec and have .bkf files on the USB drive.
How can I restore my data from the .bkf files??
I do not have a file server to install a trial version of Backup Exec on.
How can I recover my data from the .bkf files?

Thanks for the help.

You need Backup Exec to read and restore from the .bkf files.

You can install BE on any supported OS as per the Compatibility Guide:

Simple version of required steps:

Do not connect the USB disk to anywhere yet (and if the USB disk has a write protect tab on it then enable the write protect to avoid accidental deletion)

Install Backup Exec in trialware on another server (that has more disk space available on a spare volume than is currently used on the USB disk)

Create a new backup disk device (backup to disk folder) inside Backup Exec that is using the volume with the space.

After the backup to disk folder has been created plug in the USB disk and copy all the BKF files from that USB disk into the backup to disk folder.

Unplug the USB disk so it's content cannot be affected.

Inventory and catalog the backup to disk device.

If all is sucessful you should be able to create restore jobs.

If any issues you may need more specialist help - whatever you do however take great care to make sure nothing can delete the content of your USB disk.

Thanks for the reply.

But, the USB drive has 1.45TB of data in around 450 files in the B2D folder.

Not enough room on the Server to copt that..

Before i started I coppied contents to a 2 TB external drive.

Inventory works fine.
Cataloging fails and I don't know what to do next.

I get a e000900 error each time I run the Catalog Job.
Any other help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Chuck
