Help with Synthetic Backup Policy

I'm setting up new backup jobs using the Synthetic Policy which utilizes the three templates (baseline backup, incremental, and synthetic). I'm creating one job per server using this policy. My problem is whenever I configure a selection list on a server to include backing up mailboxes, sql, or shadow copy components I recieve the error "Only file system resources are supported with the synthetic backup template and any associated full or incremental job templates."

Everything works like a charm if I only select drives (ex C and D). As soon as I select anything else it gives me the above error.

Does this mean I can't use any of my agents if I want to run synthetic backups or is this a technical error?

Not an error - the way it is designed at present. You can only do file level Synthetic backups.
