How to automate erasing when a tape is full (or is going to be) ?

Hello

Actually some jobs that make some daily or weekly backup write on tapes without erasing them before thet start the job.
That means that that backup are write on the tape one after another until the tape is full.
But i have to erase the tape manually when it's full or rhe job cann't be done.

I know that it's not the most clever backup policy i've seen but it's not my choice and i can't change it.

Now i try to configure the backup jobs to calculate before making the backup if there will be enough place. And if not, to practice an erase of the tape and finally do the backup

So i wonder if it's possible, ans if it is how to do it ?

Change the jobs to Overwrite only, not Append Else Overwrite

Then, if the job re-uses the tape each week, change the OPP (Overwrite Protection Period) to 6 days for that media set, if you reuse tapes every other week, change the OPP to 13 days, etc.

BackupExec should now reuse the tapes with no intervention from you
