Hello,
when I try to add network driver for IDR, the system can not install/setup the drivers. The BEDRWIZ.LOG shows the following error:

Hello,

-- Are you trying a Idr of a remote Machine?

-- Please ensure that you are using the correct drivers for the NIC cards...

Thank You,

Shweta

Hello Shweta Rege,

to clarify the situation:

The remote server is a HP DL360 G4p. The image CD we are booting from is created with the IDR assistent, thus the drivers should be the correct ones. Nevertheless we tried almost all available drivers from the appropriate HP web site, but none of them works.
The error remains the same.

Any ideas?

Norbert

Hi,

This error could occur when the remote machine's driver for NIC is not present in the Windows operating System. NIC drivers which are not present in the Operating system .

Those should be provided manually at the time of restore.

Please verify the following details :

-- Always ensure that Backup Exec service account(BESA) is a member of
Domain Administrator and local administrator group only.Remove it from
users and Backup operator groups. This would eliminate any most restrictive
permissions being applied.

-- Alternatively you may like try keeping the password for the Backup Exec
service account blank. Change the password for the Backup Exec service
account on the BE media server and keep it blank (no password). Reinitiate
the Intelligent Disaster Recovery process on the remote system and verify
that you are able to connect to the BE Media server.
Note : When connecting to the BE Media server from the remote system
specify the BE Media server credentials using the following :

- BE media server system name as the Domain name.

- Administrator login name.

- Blank password.

Thanks.

When I try recover this server with OS Windows 2000 SP4 (BootCD created from Windows 2000 SP4 installation CD) all drivers installs correctly.

Good morning (08:30 in Germany:),

as Ivan Kvetkin mentioned above, the drivers are present on the Boot CD. It is NOT a communication problem with the BE server - without a network driver no communcation can be established :)

Here are the most relevant lines from the error log again:
: Copying file from <1:\user\> to <1:\i386\system32\drivers\>
: Error copying file q57w2k.sys from <1:\user\> to <1:\i386\system32\drivers\>. Error Code: 0x2

The similiar section from Ivan Kvetkin:
: Copying file from <> to <1:\i386\system32\drivers\>
: Error copying file q57w2k.sys from <> to <1:\i386\system32\drivers\>. Error Code: 0x2

Seems to be a problem with Windows 2003 SP1 or the new HP DL360 g4p - or both.

Greetings
Norbert

Hello Symantec,

no more ideas? We want to sell your product to our customers, but this is only possible if it does what it's promising!

Is there another possibility -beside this forum- to get qualified support for this problem?

With kind regards

Just finished testing, hotfix 9 fixed the problem.
IDR of HP DL360 G4 with Windows 2003 R2 Standard was successfull.

thx symantec

This hotfix not resolve my problem.
1. I install hotfix on Media server.
2. Do new full backup.
3. Create new IDRCD. In wizard select 7 IDR files for 7 Win2k3 servers.
4. Boot from created CD.
5. When i select network restore problem repeated.
Folder Drivers on created CD contain drivers for 2 OS. 5.0.service pack4 and 5.2 service pack 1.
Network drivers for Win2k and Win2k3 identical.

Ivan:

From the log it looks like, the IDR driver database does not contain the 2003 driver at all ( q57xp32.sys ). The only driver that matches for the device is the W2K driver inf which will not work on 2003. This means either you did not backup the MARGO system after the media server hotfix or you might still be running with an older IDR CD.

I need to know the following

* file version of the i386\system32\bkupexec\bedrwiz.exe in the IDR CD.
* list of files under the DRIVERS\INF directory and the "DRIVERS\5.2 service pack 1" directory.

hotfix was installed 02 feb 2007
last full backup in 04 feb 2007 and MARGO dr file date is 04 feb 2007.
inf file for network card for Win2k and Win2k3 is identical from HP.

Ivan:

For some reason the OS is picking up the wrong INF file ( Your W2K INF file) This could be because the W2K INF file contains a later DriverVersion entry in it compared to the 2003 one for the network device.

Here is how you can provide the correct INF and driver in this case.

When in the IDR Recovery wizard on the network install page, press Shift+F10 to get a command prompt and run the following commands

B:\> rd z:\user /s /q
B:\> md z:\test
B:\> copy "B:\DRIVERS\INF\5.2.SERVICE PACK 1@Q57W2K_34AC5_208435@OEM22.INF" z:\test\oem22.inf
B:\> copy ""B:\DRIVERS\5.2.SERVICE PACK 1\Q57W2K_34AC5_208435\Q57XP32.SYS"" z:\test\Q57XP32.SYS

Now Click the 'Have Disk' button and point to "z:\test".

Thanks. Following this instructions network drivers were installed. Recovering (Restore) completed successfully. But i have some questions:
1. Why did IDR Preparation Wizard put Win2k drivers on Recovery CD?
2. Why did IDR Recovery wizard, when I am booting from CD, attempt load Win2k drivers? Drivers have equal versions, date, size and compatible with Win2k and Win2k3 systems.
May Symantec solve this problem? In extraordinary situation problems mantioned above can lead to loss of time.

Ivan:

>> Why did IDR Preparation Wizard put Win2k drivers on Recovery CD?

This happened because at some point you created a W2K recovery CD and the IDR driver database on the media server { \idr\Drivers dir } gets updated everytime a new IDR recovery CD gets created. The idea here is to collect multitiude of drivers from various operating systems, hoping that during a disaster recovery scenario at least one of the driver from the list might match for a device that is found on the recovering system regardless of the OS.

>> Why did IDR Recovery wizard, when I am booting from CD, attempt load Win2k drivers? Drivers have equal versions, date, size and compatible with Win2k and Win2k3 systems.

In this case the drivers are not of equal size or version. ( W2K driver is Q57W2K.SYS, 2003 driver is Q57XP32.SYS ). It so happens that the INF files are of the same size ( OEM24.INF & OEM22.INF ). Even then the 2003 INF file has the latest date, so the OS should have picked that one up instead of the W2K one.

Without looking into both the INF files and the device installation log that should be created by adding the "LogLevel" and "LogPath" entries under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup registry key ( these registry keys are explained in the IDR TOI presentation ), I cannot conclude why the OS decided to pick up the W2K inf file. I guess this could be an exception to the rule.

Wherefore copy Win2k drivers on IDR Recovery CD with Win2k3 system files?

I need to know the reason:
Why when IDR Recovery CD is created, drivers for OS Win2k is copied on it, but the IDR Recovery CD is base for recovery servers from OS Win2k3 and contains system filesWin2k3?
