Installing new Exchange Server, question about CAL's

Beuy

Hey yo,

I have recenlty been recuirted to do some upgrades at my work, problem is there is a sevre lack of previous documenation etc. I am wondering if we have the required licenses to install a new exchange server, below are the CAL's I have found (no idea if the 3 packs are used or not, can I go anywhere to find out?)

Long piece of paper with "IMPORTANT SERIAL # INFORMATION" at the top

-Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows servers

-BEWS 9.0 Microsoft Exchange Server Agent with Client Access Licence

-BEWS 9.0 Remote Agent (CAL) for Windows Servers 1 pack

-BEWS 9.0 Remtoe Agent (CAL) for Windows Servers 3 pack

-BEWS 9.0 Remote Agent (CAL) for Windows Servers 3 pack

-BEWS 9.0 Remote Agent (CAL) for Windows Servers 3 pack

Small square piece of white cardboard with black strip at bottom:

-Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers Remote Agent (CAL) for Windows Servers 1 pack, E/F/G/S/I/C

-Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers Microsoft SQL Server Agent w/Client Access License, E/F/G/S/I/C

-Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers Microsoft Exchange Server Agent with Client Access License, E/F/G/S/I/C

-Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows Servers Remote Agent (CAL) for Windows Servesr 3 pack, E/F/G/S/I/C

Is it possible to move the exchange cal from the current one to the new one? Or purchase a single new 9.0 cal? I doubt I would be able to convince my workplace to ugprade to Veritas 12 considering there more then 10 servers being backed up...

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Looks like the serials that you have will  backup 1 Exchange Server and 1 SQL Server and 11 other servers

If you are going to migrate Exchange to new hardware, you should be OK.  If you are adding a second Exchange Server, you don't have enought licenses.

The bad news is Symantec no longer sells v9.x serials  (the product has been End-of-Life since January of 2007)

The good news is that you can generally find back level serials on the Auction  Sites. (Ebay, Craig's List, etc)

(I'd also recommend the free upgrade to v9.1)
