I have a new hp MSL6060 connected via fibre to a msa1000 san.

backup exec can see the changer fine. but in device configuration wizard it shows the drives as unknown all drivers are install all patches are installed, what am i missing !

If your tape is seen to be compatible please install the latest drivers:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/277619

Try a power cycling of the device as well as the server, the device should be switched on before the server.
