Media Server unknown, after copying database

Hi,

I am trying to implement a new media server. I have copied .mdf and .ldf database file to new media server, and ran "copy database" with copied .mdf and .ldf file. After this all services related to BackepExec stopped, and not starting.

I tried "Update Configuration for New Media Server Name", but that also did not work.

What I am trying to do is:

Copy all configuration from Old Media Server to New Media Server.

Both are in different Domain.

Can someone please help me to copy all configuration from Old Media Server to New Media Server.

Old Media Server : BackupExec 11d

New Media Server : BackupExec 2010R3

You cannot just copy a BE 11d database to BE 2010.  They are not of the same structure.  You need to upgrade the BE 11d database using BEMIG.  See the document below

I looked at the document, it has some registry tweaks, is there any other way, where i don't have to touch the resgistry?

Though, I will give it a go in our test environment.

No.  The registry tweaks are to tell BEMIG what version is your old database.

Before referring to BeMig you may also need to update the DataPartitionName.

I was able to complete my migration, without any issues so far. I will be doing some tests later this week, and hope everything works.
