Oracle Agent cannot verify credentials for Oracle Access?

Hans_Peter_Klau

Hello,

again a problem with the 11d-Oracle-Agent.

New Server - 2003 Enterprise R2 x64

x64 Backup Agent installed

Entered the media server name in the 2nd tab, domain administrator & password in the last tab

But in the oracle section it does not work...
I can choose the database.
Enter sys as username and the password and below the media server again but the agent says that it cannot verify the user credentials.

not matter what I type in username or password - always the same effect.

Oracle Database is 9.2.0.8 but in 32-bit edition.

What can be the problem?

Thanks for your help...

You always need to register your Oracle server in the media server. Go to Tools -> Options -> Oracle and register it with a logon account, that has to be the same one as you use in the last tab in the Remote Agent configuration Utility.

That should work

At this point the options of the backup exec server are not questioned.

It is an Agent-Problem...

By the way... your suggestion was the first thing I did!

The admin guide points this:

When you use the Remote Agent Utility, the user account with which you are
logged in cannot be a member of the Oracle DBA group. If the user account is a
member of the Oracle DBA group, the credentials cannot be verified.

Could this be your problem?

No,

this is not the problem because the user is not member of this group!

Talked to Symantec Support and they don't have an idea...

Nice product, this 11d...

Hello,

Kindly refer the following Documents:

When attempting to back up a local or remote Oracle database the error: "Access is denied to Remote Agent. Check the login account for the specified device." is returned.

http://support.veritas.com/docs/284910

Performing an Oracle tablespace backup with Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers fails with the error " 0xe0001402 - This server name is not in the list of authentication credentials on the media server".

Thank You,

Shweta

I found that if I added the user as a member of the DBA group then it works.

That is exactly the opposit of what the manual say.

That is what I did and it works. Completely contradicts the manual.
