Document 261993 was very helpful... ran VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS and observed most writers with 'No error' and several with 'Retryable Error'. I understand this indicates that allowing backup to run again may produce a successful backup, and that alternative is to reboot server...
Is this correct?
Thanks, Dick

Yep

But I think that the most important thing was the recommendation to upgrade to v9.1 SP1 (a free upgrade for v9.0 users)

Would it be possible to reopen this issue as I've been getting this error on and off ever since Backup exec was installed on this small business server. This error would occur obout once every two weeks and other wise backup would be fine. When it occurs it appears that most of the backup was successful.
Thing is i cant seem to get it to go away.
