Replacing Tape Drive

What are the recommended steps to replacing the tape drive in the BUE media server? I had heard that you need to delete the tape library from BUE before the new drive is installed. Do you have to recreate the scheduled backup jobs once the drive is replaced? Is there a KB article on this?

If you do not remove the old library and tape drive before physically removing them, it becomes a real PITA to do it later

You do need to edit each scheduled job to point to the new library or drive.

Or, after replacement, delete the removed drive, and then rename the new drive.

This should work for BUE 9.1 and Server 2003, right. The article you mentioned refers to W2K and older versions of BUE. Thanks for the help.

Thank you for the heads up about needing to edit each job; the KB articles don't mention that.

If you remove the old one first, and replace with the same mfg and type, you probably won't need to make any changes. If you added the second before deleting the first, then you would defininely need to edit.
