SPs and Hot-Fix 24

Hot-fix 24 states that it requires Backup Exec 10.0.5484 and SP1.

The documented file versions in 10.0.5484 SP2 seem to be older than those of Hot-fix 24, implying that this hot-fix is not included in SP2.

Then there’s 10.0.5520, which according to documentation does not include Hot-fix 24 either.

The question is can and should Hot-fix 24 be applied to Backup Exec 10.0.5484 SP2 and Backup Exec 10.0.5520?

Yes, as stated in my original question:

Hot-fix 24 states it is for 10.0.5484 Service Pack 1, but the file versions in 10.0.5484 Service Pack 2 seem to be lower (older) than those in Hot-fix 24... so should the statement and intent for Hot-fix 24 be "Requires 10.0.5484 Service Pack 1 or 2"?

Then additionally, does 10.0.5520 already have the functionality of Hot-fix 24 applied, or does it need either:

a) Hot-fix 24 applied too

or

b) Some new as yet unreased Hot-fix to address the same issues

Probably the statement should say at least SP1 installed to install Hotfix 24.

10.0.5520 does not need hotfix 24 installed as it already has the security fixes in it.

So can I take it then that 10.0.5484 SP2 does require hot-fix 24?

Yes 5484 SP2 does require Hotfix 24.

Than when I tried to install Hotfix 24 it fails because no SP1 is intalled. Please advise Sp2 Cannot be remove once it is installed Per you Doc:http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/277469.htm
Note: hotfix24 cam almost one hours Prior to the release of SP2 and the hotfix 24 Doc does not reflect the Vulnerabilty on SP2 Doc:http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275514.htm

Did some testing today - got exactly the same thing.

Found that if you install SP1 after SP2 - then hotfix 24 will install without issues.

From what I could tell SP1 did not update any of the files which SP2 updates.
