SQL/Server database used by BackupExec

When I installed BE version 11d on a new Windows Server 2003 R1, MSDE was installed. However, BE connected to the BE version 10d database on another server on the network. Why did this happen, and how can I get version BE 11d to use MSDE

Was this an upgrade?  When you install Backup Exec, it gives you the option to select what SQL instance to use.   Did you select the other server? 
 
One thing that you can try in order to move the BEDB to the local instance is using the Beutility.exe selecting the option to "New Backup Exec Database Location..." and point the DB to the local MSDE.
