SharePoint Portal Server 2003 supports two kinds of document libraries:
SQL Based Document Libraries:
- Backup Exec does not support individual document backup/restore with SQL based document libraries.
- SQL based document libraries SharePoint Portal 2003 are NOT supported by Backup Exec.
Web Storage System Based Libraries:
- The web storage system-based library uses the same interface as the SPS 2001 workspaces, which is currently supported, therefore, Backup Exec does support individual document backup/restore with web storage system-based document libraries.
Individual documents (Web Storage System-based) can be backed up from and restored to Web Storage System-based document libraries, or redirected to file paths.
Note: If the SPS installation is an upgrade from SPS 2001 to SPS 2003 maintaining the folder structure, brick level backup and restore is supported.
If the install is a fresh installation of SharePoint Portal 2003 and is web storage based, it is supported by Backup Exec for individual backups and restores of document libraries.
